I envision building an interdependent community of youth who feel empowered to serve their larger community with both humility and compassion.
Project Description
Changjiji Community Café serves as a gateway to employment and empowerment for out-of-school youth, including school dropouts, former delinquents, former substance abusers, and underserved, unemployed youth. The café trains and develops these youth to learn the food preparation, customer service, and business skills necessary to succeed in Bhutan’s emerging tourism and hospitality sectors. All the while, the youth on the café team earn some sustainable income to support their livelihoods. In the long-term, the café intends to build an employment pipeline that connects café youth team alumni to meaningful careers in restaurants and hotels across Bhutan.
