Project Description

The project will initiate a non-profit leather factory to provide much needed job opportunities for youth. New laborers will learn how to make leather shoes, and will also receive orientations to help them better understand their rights as workers. They will also be trained in management skills so that they can eventually initiate their own micro projects and move the factory to a worker-owned model, the first of its kind in Cairo. A key focus of the project will be the establishment of a healthy working environment, something many workers have never experienced before and which will serve as an example, going forward, for other already existing factories in Egypt.
