To be the leader that Africa needs, one must serve with compassion, authencity and humility and place human development at the centre of Africa's growth.
The Aurum UnlockD Project tackles two national South African issues - youth unemployment (53,7%) and HIV (7.1 million people infected). These issues are interlinked as disenfranchised youth engage in high risk behaviour and HIV is most prevalent among young girls between 15-24. The project combats these two issues through a 1-year holistic development program which equips youth from heavily-burdened communities with education about HIV and AIDS as well as the skills needed in clinics and hospitals in 27 priority districts increasing their employability and future economic prospects, while capacitating the healthcare industries to combat HIV.
