I want to change the systems that constrain individuals from leading full human lives. I believe the way to do this is by actively challenging these systems and collectively imagining alternatives through relationships that center on compassion, love, and self-care.
Youth Color Corps empowers youth from indigenous, ethnic or minority groups to tap into the power of color to challenge dominant narratives, and to imagine and co-create alternatives for their communities and for themselves. Our aim is to co-create children’s books by and for minority communities with the goal of: amplifying the voices and perspectives of marginalized youth, promoting art as a tool for healing and creative resistance, developing native-language literacy, and breaking down barriers to intercultural exchange and cross-cultural understanding in underserved global communities.
